John Thurston is my 10th great-grandfather, and my shared common ancestor with Samuel Adams (Signer of the Declaration of Independence).

He was born January 13, 1601 in Wrentham, Suffolk, England and baptized on March 19, 1619 when he was age 18.

In 1633, at age 32, he was married in England to Margarett (b. 1605 – d. 1662). This is documented in “New England Marriages Prior to 1700”:

In 1637, the family immigrated to New England.

In 1680, John is documented living in Dedham, Massachusetts.

He died November 1, 1685 in Medfield, Norfolk, Massachusetts. He was 84 years old.
